I'm now a freelancer for ten years and I always loved to put my design into motion. But it was time for me to improve my skills in motion design. Because as I learnt about everything in my work, you can't be good at something unless you have a lot of practice. Like I do to improve my illustration skills with a doodle sketch session every morning, it was time for me to deeply learn how to animate.
Perfect timing! Markus Magnusson aka Motion Markus, one of the best animator I know was about to release a Motion design course! So let me show you what I learnt in that course.
This course is splited into different lessons. Each week, Markus post a tutorial and you learn something new. First lesson was about posing. Even with a good character design, you have to be good with posing otherwise you lose the magic of animation.
I chose to create my character five heads tall. Here's the pose of my Space Lion!
The second lesson was about character design. I had a puppet, now it was time to add some details to it. I chose to play with Space Lion, which is a character I imagined for a poster I made for Maison Tangible.
Explorer of distant planets, Space Lion needed a side-kick as smart as he was. So here comes Astro Monkey!
