"Les Voyages extraordinaires d'Axel" is the name of the research project I'm conducting right now. Combining illustration, publishing, print, augmented reality and toys, this project is a recreation alongside my commissioning projects. It is above all an opportunity to test a lot of things in illustration and with augmented reality technology.
Let me introduce you Axel: a French young boy, about ten years old. Literature and cinema explorer and enthusiast. He was raised by Jules Verne's books, with heroes such as Captain Nemo, Michel Strogoff and Phileas Fogg.
Axel has a girlfriend named Soon. And there's always a cat around them: Zelda. Yes, Zelda, just as Shigeru Miyamoto's princess. But not blonde, and as a cat.
Axel has a lot of books. Poe, Verne, Stevenson for sure, but also Maths, Physics or Astronomy books. He's kind of a genius, I think.
Oh, and Axel is a very lucky boy. He has a small submarine, a car and even a hot air balloon.
Double-deck hot air balloon
(and yes, there's a deck only for cats)
Axel's house, half-wood and half-brick. Way more stronger than Three Little Pigs house.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot.
Axel has a Space Rocket. A SPACE ROCKET!
I'll end up telling you more about Axel and his amazing journeys. I'll tell you how to learn science and history by studying an octopus Dumbo playing card games or an underwater pianist posing as a giant whale...
But it's for later.. Much later..
